Scout Gear
Initial Gear
The following gear is essential to a Scouts activities. For more information about the gear needed please contact the Quartermaster or the Scoutmaster@Troop5529.org
There are ten essential items that a scout should have while hiking or camping outdoors. All of these items should fit into a large Ziploc bag and should be carried by the scout whenever they go hiking or on a campout.
1. Pocketknife
2. First-aid kit
3. Extra clothing
4. Rain gear
5. Water bottle
6. Flashlight
7. Trail food
8. Matches and fire starters
9. Sun protection
10. Map and compass
Not everything needs to be bought at first. Your first purchase should be the Scout BSA Handbook. The handbook is available at the Scout Shop in Pensacola and online.

The next thing you need to get is the scout class A uniform shirt with all the right patches should be your target. I suggest using velcro on the sleeves or hand stitch as it is easier to remove and replace patches as needed. The rank patch and position patch will change often. Please talk to Maria or Sean about what patches are needed; also the Scout Shop staff know what they need for the district and troop.
